Hair and corporate headshots. Some advice on what to do with women’s and men’s hair when you are going to commission some professional corporate headshots. The first thing is to get it cut before the day of the shoot. Do not try anything new; get your normal haircut so people will not think you look different in your new corporate headshot.
Tips for Women’s hair and corporate headshots: Make sure your hair is manageable and under control. You need to look tidy and businesslike. Do not go for any over-the-top styles and certainly no glamorous haircuts. You need to look like a professional, not a movie star turning up on Oscar night. Your hair does not need to be a distraction it needs to be in keeping with your business sector. Another factor to consider is the location of your new corporate headshots. If you go for the corporate photographers’ studio or have them captured in your London offices, then you will not have a problem. But if you go for a London location headshot you might get problems. If you are outside, you will have to contend with the British weather. We had to postpone photo shoots when the wind and rain had played havoc on some women’s hair, and the headshots were not usable.
Tips for Men’s hair and corporate headshots. Pretty much all of the above applies, and in general, men’s hair is much shorter, so the British weather has less of an effect on hair. Again, at our 45 Beech St EC2Y 8AD studio or your London offices, you will have mirrors so you can check for any loose hairs on clothing or any dandruff, but outside on location, you won’t have this choice. In these circumstances, get the photographer to check for any flaws. Recently, we had a commission to photograph a client who had seen a corporate headshot we had captured on the Millennium Bridge with St. Pauls in the background. However, on the day of the shoot, the weather was not on their side, and we had to move the shoot location to somewhere much less windy.
